WO ODS HOLE
Woods Hole Handworks
In the charming seaside village of Wood Hole, a group of local
artists have been showcasing their wares since 1982. A cooperative art gallery, the shop is managed by printmaker Jane
Baker, whose woodcut prints have been on display at Handworks
for the last two decades. As someone who “grew up in skiffs and
sailboats, clamming and 昀椀shing,” Baker’s art is informed by her
love of the ocean and nature. That maritime theme, Baker says,
is common to many whose products are sold at Handworks. She
says the store always has an eclectic assortment of styles and
mediums, with anywhere between 12 and 16 members, all from
Cape Cod. Last year, there were two potters, a glassblower, a
photographer, a weaver, an oil painter, and an artist who creates
botanical art from seaweed, lichen, and 昀氀owers.
